I must post this..then try to find out what I'm going to write about (actually copy, but who cares?:D)

Yeah, he's Novak Djokovic, as you can see. And he made a joke (nem is ő lenne:D) in the first match of his in Paris..he appeared w/this mask related to Halloween.--> So, as it is understandable now, I'm going to follow my traditions and make a short summary about Halloween. Sometimes I think of the idea that why don't we have such parties like in the U.S.A.? No, I don't really want to take part in Trick or Treat?..xD but something could be held.:P I'd enjoy it..xD

Short history

Halloween has its origins in the ancient Celtic festival known as Samhain from the Old Irish samain. The festival of Samhain is a celebration of the end of the harvest season in Gaelic culture, and is sometimes regarded as the "Celtic New Year". Traditionally, the festival was a time used by the ancient pagans to take stock of supplies and slaughter livestock for winter stores. The ancient Gaels believed that on October 31, now known as Halloween, the boundary between the alive and the deceased dissolved, and the dead become dangerous for the living by causing problems such as sickness or damaged crops. The festivals would frequently involve bonfires, into which bones of slaughtered livestock were thrown. Costumes and masks were also worn at the festivals in an attempt to mimic the evil spirits or placate them.

Name

The term Halloween is shortened from All Hallows' Even as it is the eve of "All Hallows' Day", which is now also known as All Saints' Day.

Jack-O-Lantern

An old Irish folk tale tells of Jack, a lazy yet shrewd farmer who uses a cross to trap the Devil. One story says that Jack tricked the Devil into climbing an apple tree, and once he was up there Jack quickly placed crosses around the trunk or carved a cross into the bark, so that the Devil couldn't get down. Another myth says that Jack put a key in the Devil's pocket while he was suspended upside-down.

Information is taken from Wikipedia's website. This was the easiest and most available way (in case of Jack O'Lantern there is another story but I don't want you to be bored :D), if you're interested in the holiday more, you can find more information there.
